Necrosis or ulceration due to extravasation of drug into the skin

Skin ulceration or necrosis due to leakage of an irritant Drug preparation, usually during administration by infusion through a cannula but also from direct intravenous injection. Anthracyclines, platinum compounds, vinca alkaloids and taxanes represent some of the more common agents responsible.
